Terms of Use

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the MATRICS Learn website (www.matricslearn.org.uk). Please read them carefully, as they affect your rights and responsibilities under the law.

If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, please do not register for or use the site.

1. Use of the Site

MATRICS is provided subject to these Terms and Conditions. By using the site, you agree to be bound by them. References to these Terms and Conditions include:

2. Amendments

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. If changes are significant, we will notify you by email or through an announcement on the site. Continued use of MATRICS after changes take effect will be treated as acceptance.

3. Registration

  • Most areas of the site require registration.
  • You must provide your name, contact details, organisation details, and FCA registration number.
  • Accounts may be deactivated if not accessed for nine months or more.
  • You must be over 18 to register.
  • Details must be accurate and kept up to date.

4. Password and Security

You must keep your username and password confidential. Notify us immediately at matrics@moneyadvicescotland.org.uk if you suspect a security issue. We may suspend or require you to reset your password if we believe there is misuse.

All content on MATRICS is protected by copyright and intellectual property rights. You may view, store, or print content for personal, non-commercial use, but not reproduce or distribute it without permission.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not use MATRICS to:

  • Share unlawful, abusive, or offensive material
  • Encourage criminal activity
  • Harass or threaten other users
  • Copy or share copyrighted material without permission
  • Post false, misleading, or irrelevant content
  • Disrupt discussions with repeated or irrelevant posts

You are responsible for any losses or costs caused by breaching these rules.

7. Moderator Intervention

We may edit or remove posts at our discretion. Reasonable efforts will be made to inform you when this happens.

8. User Intervention

If you find content offensive, please email matrics@moneyadvicescotland.org.uk. If necessary, we will remove posts in a timely manner.

9. Content Disclaimer

Posts on MATRICS discussions reflect individual user views, not those of MATRICS or its partners. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of user posts, and you are responsible for evaluating the reliability of any advice shared.

10. Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Access may occasionally be restricted for maintenance or upgrades.

11. Suspension or Cancellation

We may suspend or cancel your registration without notice if you breach these Terms. You may cancel your account at any time by contacting matrics@moneyadvicescotland.org.uk.

12. Liability

While we aim to provide accurate information, we make no guarantees about third-party content. We accept no liability for losses (including lost data or business interruption). This does not affect statutory rights where applicable.

13. Third-Party Websites

MATRICS may include links to external sites. We are not responsible for their content.

14. Advertising and Sponsorship

Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for ensuring compliance with laws. We are not liable for errors in advertising material.

15. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Disputes will be handled by the Scottish courts.

16. International Use

MATRICS is intended for UK use. If you access it from outside the UK, you are responsible for compliance with local laws.

17. Other Terms

  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to another person.
  • We may transfer our rights if your protections remain unaffected.
  • If we do not enforce part of these Terms, we may still enforce them later.
  • We are not responsible for events beyond our reasonable control.

18. Training Bookings and No-Show Policy

If you apply for a training course and receive a confirmation email from MATRICS confirming your place, your attendance is expected. If you do not attend the event without prior notice, a £10 no-show fee will be invoiced to your agency.

Failure to pay this invoice will result in the trainee being suspended from further training until the outstanding amount is settled.
